About

SCVegan.com is the vegan blog of the Santa Clarita Valley. I know I’m not the only vegan living in the SCV, and I think it’s about time we had a way to communicate and inform one another other than the suggestion board at our local Whole Foods Market. With this blog I hope to establish an idea of just what kind of vegan community we have in Santa Clarita, provide a way for us to communicate with each other, post news of interest to us SCVegans, review local restaurants on how well they cater to vegans along with ordering suggestions for said establishments, help answer vegan related questions to those new or just starting out living a vegan lifestyle and anything else I can think up.

If you have suggestions on how we can make this blog better, news you want me to post, questions about what kind of toothpaste to buy or if you just want to say hi; please feel free to send me an e-mail: SCVegan@gmail.com

Also, in case you haven’t seen the other links, I have a web forum for us to use which can be a very convenient means of communication.  Anything from questions about buying food or health inquiries to casual conversation about any subject you like can be addressed there by any member who signs up. It’s free and takes about a minute. The forums are located at: http://scvegan.proboards89.com

  1. Hey, I really respect what you’re doing. It’s cool to see someone doing this in the SCV. I’m not vegan, (vegetarian), but have many friends in town who are. You should check out this place called Jasmine. It’s right next to Goodwill in Saugus. Amazing.

  2. I hate the fact that I can’t really go anywhere within 2 miles of my home and find really good food to eat. All I get here in Newhall is a bunch of chain fast food places with the worst food on the planned earth. No wander why we have so many people who are so unproductive, sick, overweight, depressed, socially tiered and more. People, especially singles like myself, don’t go through the painstaking task of shopping for all the ingredients required for that God intended blend of proper nutrients. It’s hard because you can’t buy little portions to cook that easily . When you do things go bad, thus dropping $ down the drain. I guess I’m addicted to speed and simplicity.

Then you have Hart high within blocks of these chains that train them how to eat themselves into nutrient starvation and chemical overdose.

There is a place or two but $ becomes a factor. It would just be nice to have places understand the market for healthy food that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg. Meanwhile, I try to cook for myself and eat as well as I can, hit the gym, and run 12 miles a week. That still doesn’t take the place of good food that’s for sure.

Thanks for your blog Nolan. I hope it catches on. I will do my best to share the word.

  4. Hi!
I have been a vegan for quite a while and have almost given up on finding any of us here in SCV. I still hope to move to a more vegan-friendly area someday, but in the meantime joined your forum. I wish you great success with your blog!

  5. hey there. it seems like your blog is really taking off? how are you liking the whole vegan blog thing?

  6. Wow, I had no idea there were any vegans here in SCV. I’ve been living in Seattle (vegan heaven!) for a while and I had to come back to look for a job, but I didn’t think I’d be able to find ANYTHING vegan around this place. This is freakin awesome! Whoever made this site, I thank you. I feel much better about moving back knowing that I’m not alone.

  7. I agree it is very nice to see there are other vegans out here! (Thanks Adam for showing me this site). I am a regular pesky (only to the managers) Whole Foods bulletin poster… we have to keep letting them know we are out here;)… Thanks Nolan and others for this marvelous creation!

  11. Oh my goodness! I can’t believe I found a website for vegans in Santa Clarita! I was a vegan for 2 years and living in this city I always thought I must have been the only one. Thank you so much for creating this site!
Sadly, I’m not a vegan anymore, I’m vegetarian now but trying yo get back on the vegan wagon since I’ve gained weight being vegetarian. Thanks again! I hope I’ll be able to learn more about my dining options in SCV!

    🙂
